Now that you are back, tell me what impresses you more, STP or System D.

I have been exclusively using premium fuels, will give a shot with normal diesel plus fuel additive this weekend run.

Going way I am thinking of using the System D/STP + Normal diesel and while coming back will use Indian Oil EXtra Premium.

So again who is the real McCoy, STP or System D.

Good you posted this info for others here. I also wanted to know if your STP additive is a Cetane booster too ???

Since I found another product with cetane booster. To understand read here and about the product here

This is what Tata's recommend as the fuel specs for 2.2l

Cetane Number (CN): Min 51
Sulphur Content (mg/Kg): 350
Lubricity (HFRR)(micron) : 460

Hi BM..

Could you or any other member of the 2.2 family (in NCR) confirm that they have got a call/sms fro this as i called the workshop and they had no clue (very polite & are finding out but NO CLUE!)

Hi All,

Ok between System D and STP I will choose STP. I find the pick up and overall running of the engine better with STP. It is a personal choice I am sure System D will also have its takers.

I would not go back to putting anything but Normal diesel + additive as with "High Speed" Diesels I find the engine noise levels are much higher.

Dadu,

I think STP is only a cleaner from what I can gather.

Hi p...

I have not received any SMS or call from the Dealers end. I called them, they knew about what I was talking about and said that they would call me back when they were ready to do the change, the works manager did seem in no rush to do this. That's the impression I got over the phone. Anyways lets see what the next few days bring.

k, so STP is better as per your experience. Now have to find out where to buy this one in the few days remaining of this week.

Otherwise as decided will use System D+Normal diesel and while coming back will use the Indian Oil Premium. Lets see what comes out.

Also whose normal diesel are you using, IOC/BP/HP

Thanks much

ADC

ADC,

I am on IOC as I find their fuel specifications matching those specified by TATA's but only in the 11 cities wherein Euro III norms have come in.

Hi ADC,

I use Normal HP Diesel + STP. Sometimes Normal BP if I need to fill up urgently.

STP is a bit tough to get sometimes but the supply has pepped up in the last few weeks. So you should Have no problem getting your hands on a few bottles. It is Rs.180/- a bottle same as System D.

STP Distributor:

Purolator India
Scindia Potteries,compound V Cross Road,sarojini Nagar
New Delhi - ,
Delhi,
India.
Telephone No. : 91-011-6885236 / 6885137

I think the tel nos are old. Might need a 2 in front. Hope this helps.

Hi P...

I don't know the exact ramifications of this change. I think it is necessary but not very urgent.

At least it seems that way going by the "Chilled Out" response from the dealers end.

I am glad I got the 2 year extended warranty now. ;-)

Hi this is Obaid from Mumbai,

finally they realized the mistake with this part!!!

I have currently clocked 10,000 Kms with the beast, took delivery on 13th Nov 07.

Whilst on 5,500Kms one day, suddenly the power steering stopped working and the battery light on the dash came on, i opened the bonnet to find the crank shaft pulley had slipped and all belts had come undone, had the vehicle towed to the nearest service centre, they kept the vehicle for a period of 5 days "waiting for the part to come" finally fixed it. now working perfectly.

Hi Obaid,

Sorry to hear about your "Pulley Problem" I am glad though it's all been fixed. Hopefully we should not have to wait too long for our's to get changed as well. Have not heard from the workshop all this week. Shall give them till Monday before I call them back.

To think I went to Goa and back through some very isolated country roads, where a breakdown would have been disastrous....anyways I have clocked about 8000kms on my beast and mine is about 3 weeks older than yours so you are not doing too badly at all.

DO keep us abreast with your "Life after the new pulley" experience.

Cheers!
