Do you use diesel with additives or normal.

What is reccommended did you ask the service manager, since manual does not state it clearly, it just states the minimum quality required.

I have only used HP Turbojet. Have had no problems with it.

Hi Akash,

The VX has the Blaupunkt LAS VEGAS DVD player. It comes with one remote for the head unit and 2 more remotes one each for the 2 LCD screens.

The sound quality is so so. Nothing to write home about. Am looking at upgrading the 4 speakers just to take the sound a notch or to up.

The head unit is ok. The placement is so bad that what ever you put there is pretty much unusable. :-(

Hi bm-log,

I finally took the custody of my beast yesterday night. Followed some of your pointers on the PDI. Took it for a spin yesterday night - I could spot one glitch - and would appreciate your comments on that. On turning the steering to an extreme left, ( say while turing ) I can hear this - metal against metal - creaking sound below. Any idea on why this could be happening ? or did you experience any such behaviour ?

Also, this is the base model - and I was thinking of putting the reverse camera on this model - would appreciate if you have any suggestions on that - on how helpful or useful is the reverse camera ?

Thanks !!

Hi Vividisha,

Congrats on your new ride! The sound that is normal on turning completely either way is a "Hissing" sound from the power steering system. Though I don't hear it on my vehicle.

A metal on metal sound should surely be checked ASAP.

I have gotten used to the reverse camera. In fact it is quite dangerous reversing without one as a kid or a short person stood behind the truck will not be in the line of vision of the driver otherwise.

I have not installed any parking sensors yet and have not really found the need for them. If you do go for this it will only make parking and backing up easier.

Thanks bm-log for your answers. I called the showroom folks up - I am getting it checked tomorrow. They said it is possibly a problem with the alignment of the turning radius !!

I think I am convinced to go for the reverse-camera kit !!

Hi Vividisha,

Good to know you on track on getting the steering system checked. Am having trouble at the opposite end myself as you will see from today's post.

vividisha - the noise on the steering is a funny sort of nose - you can classify it a mix between hissing/metal grinding/rubber grinding. :) Get it on my safari too. Let me know what the showroom guy tells you.

I got a reverse camera for 6000. Brand is Silicon - camera is a day/night one. Am really happy with it.

Hi djbobo,

The guys corrected it. They said - it was an issue with the alignment of the turning radius. The metal grind sound is gone, though I do get the hissing sound sometimes ( not always ). I have marked it for the first servicing.

The 6000 for the reverse cam sounds good, I had the 17K one ( red-soul ) installed, though I must confess that the dealer gave me a 10k discount on that after some negotiations :-)
