Fuel the Beast with Plain old Diesel!

The verdict is in. Plain Diesel is the staple diet of the Safari 2.2. Many owners have now reported that the 2.2 engines run better on Plain Diesel. Hence, I have now moved my beast to the cheaper more ordinary fuel. If you have had the same experience or otherwise do drop in a line.

Cheers!

Hey. First thanks for your blog.. has helped a few of us (3 actually!!) to sort out our questions and buy our beasts!! Mine arrives on the 23rd and I had a question for you..
I’m getting the LX and went around looking for alloys.. Now someone has mentioned that if i get my alloys & tyres from outside TATA will void my warranty... And idea bout this & what do you suggest do I get em put or not?

Thanks for your help!!

Hi p...

Congrats on your imminent purchase. I don't think the warranty is void if you change to alloys and different tyres. I think someone is trying to get you to buy TATA stuff.

I didn't change the wheels on my beast so I don't know for sure. I did read on forums though that this does not void warranty.

Thanks!!..
One more for you i've got varied views on the "running in" of my beast could you advise on what you did and is result..

Hi p...

For my running in period I kept the beast below 3000RPM and under 100kmph for the first 1000 kms. Other than that just drove about as normal.

Have clocked over 3300kms now and the engine seems quieter and the gear shift slicker.

What mileage are you getting now after shifting to Nomal diesel and what mileage were you getting before the shifting ??

Hi,

On HP Turbojet I got 10kms per liter. Now on plain diesel I get 12kms per liter both in the city and always with A/C on!
